The city of Nokomis will host their Christmas Events during the first two Saturdays in December with the theme, "North Pole Express." Parents Arrested for Aggravated Battery to Child

Two parents have been arrested by the state police for aggravated battery to a child. On November 1, State Police investigators were requested by the Shelby County Sheriff's office to investigate unexplained injuries to a 12-day old infant from Cowden that was brought into St. Anthony's Hospital in Effingham. Semi Rollover Causes Traffic to Halt on I-55

A semi rollover on I-55 on Monday, November 7, caused the southbound lanes of the interstate near Springfield to be closed for several hours. According to the state police, a semi driven by Edward Carter, 50, was entering the southbound lanes from I-72 when it overturned, blocking the southbound lanes. Read more...
