Gillespie Man Charged in Infant Death

A Gillespie man faces a manslaughter charge following the death of an infant.

According to Illinois State Police, 27 year old Richard C. Morgan Jr. was charged on Monday with one count of Involuntary Manslaughter by the Macoupin County State‘s Attorney‘s Office.

Allegedly, Morgan caused the death of his three month old daughter while in their Gillespie residence on November 23, 2011.

Morgan is currently held in the Macoupin County Jail. Bail has been set at $100,000.

Illinois State Police and the Gillespie Police Department investigated the incident.
