Drug Seizure At Litchfield Airport

Wed, 24 Jul 2013 08:22:31 CDT
(Litchfield)--The Department of Homeland Security, and the Litchfield Police Department seized over 64 pounds of marijuana Monday at the Litchfield Airport. According to the Litchfield Police Department, the department was called by the Department of Homeland Security regarding a plane that was in route to Litchfield. The plane was believed to be part of a cross country drug run.

Two individuals, 32 year old Jonathan Eymann and 52 year old Gary Lyons, both from California, were leaving the airport to a local hotel when they were stopped by authorities. Reportedly a small amount of marijuana was discovered in Eymann's luggage. Several thousand dollars of cash, located on Lyons, was also discovered. The Litchfield K-9 unit also discovered more marijuana and smoking devices inside the vehicle.

A further investigation revealed two large suitcases, and a small backpack were located containing 64 pounds of marijuana, along with a loaded firearm. The investigation also revealed that this was the third trip to Litchfield by the pair, each time moving marijuana to a customer near Pittsburgh.

Both individuals were taken to Montgomery County Jail, pending formal charges.
