1 Dead, 2 Injured in I-55 Accident Wednesday

One person is dead and two are injured after their vehicle oveturned on Interstate 55 on Wednesday afternoon.

According to the Illinois State Police, a vehicle driven by David Marten, 45, of Lincoln was traveling south on I-55. Witnesses said the vehicle was in the middle lane when it lost control and left the roadway to the right, overturning and coming to a rest on its top next to the frontage road just north of Glenarm.

David Marten and a 3-year old passenger were transported to Memorial Medical Center and treated for non-life threatening injuries. Passenger Talona Marten, 38, had to be extricated from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The accident occurred at approximately 1:49 Wednesday afternoon.
