Sheriff: 'No Overt Evidence of Foul Play' in Hatten's Death

Thu, 01 Feb 2018 08:31:19 CST

Results from an autopsy on the body of Adria Jean Hatten have revealed no overt evidence of violence or foul play.

According to the Madison County Sheriff's Office, the autopsy did reveal signs of environmental exposure, with no signs of trauma. The 39-year-old Alton woman was found dead Tuesday morningafter being reported missing by her family the week before.

Madison County Sheriff John Lakin says that routine alcohol and drug studies will be performed as part of the investigation, with the final ruling on a cause of death pending the results of those tests.

The sheriff's office is still conducting its investigation, which they say to this point has failed to show any outward signs of violence or foul play as a cause of Adria Hatten's disappearance or death. Sheriff Lakin commended each individual and agency who took part in the search and investigation.
