Hillsboro Police Investigating Burglaries

Mon, 10 Jun 2019 10:43:34 CDT

Hillsboro Police are warning residents to lock their vehicles and garages after a string of burglaries has been reported.

According to Officer Tim Hopper, a vehicle was stolen from a garage during one of the burglaries last week, but it has since been recovered.

The incidents reportedly occurred between June 2-7. The neighborhoods known to have been affected include Eccles Street, Hilltop Drive, West Tremont Street, and Rountree by the Junior High School.

In a social media post, Hopper said the police are continuing to investigate leads. He encourages residents to lock the doors of their vehicles, garages and outbuildings, as well as write down serial numbers on power tools and electronic equipment.

Anyone who has information on the burglaries is urged to call the Hillsboro Police Department at 532-6120 or the Macoupin-Montgomery Crimestoppers at (800) 352-0136.
