POLICE: Woman's Death Similar to Other Homicides
Wed, 24 Jul 2019 10:52:23 CDT
Police believe the death of a Belleville woman on Sunday, July 21, may be related to two other homicides that occurred around East St. Louis earlier this month.
The body of Amanda Legare, 38, was found at 4:48 a.m. on Sunday in an area of overgrown vegetation near the intersection of Jefferson Avenue and Bellevue Street in East St. Louis. She reportedly died of a gunshot wound.
Investigators say there are similarities between her case and those of two other women who were found in the area within the last few weeks. 49-year-old Sandra Reckmann of Alhambra was found dead from a gunshot wound on July 9, in Washington Park. Bridgette Williams, 56, was found the following morning in the same village.
According to the Illinois State Police, similarities in the cases include the lifestyles of the women, locations they frequented, the general time of day in which the bodies were found and the causes of death. Each died of a gunshot wound and all three were found early in the morning in areas of overgrown vegetation.
State Police Zone 6 Investigations is urging anyone with information about the cases to contact them at (618) 346-3721 or call Crime Stoppers at (866) 371-8477.
