Murder Charges in Macoupin County

A Carlinville man has been charged with murder in connection with the death of a Virden man.

Macoupin County State's Attorney Jordan J. Garrison announced Tuesday that two counts of first degree murder were filed against 20 year old Dalton M. K. Obermark for the stabbing death of John Rennie. In addition to murder charges, one count of possesion of a stolen vehicle and one count of aggravated battery were filed.

Garrison thanked the Illinois State Police. Virden Police Department and all the agencies that worked swiftly to get the case charged.

Judge Joshua A. Meyer set Obermark's bond at $1,000,000.
