Person Struck on Route 16 Near Irving

The Illinois State Police and Montgomery County States Attorney's Office are investigating an apparent hit and run last night west of Irving on Route 16. Just after 9:30 last night (Wednesday), the Witt Volunteer Fire Department mobilized to a report of a person struck by a vehicle. The WFD requested an upgrade to a full alarm so a landing zone could be established and a medical helicopter was requested to perform a flying standby. First arriving units met with local and state law enforcement agencies who already had the highway shut down shutdown. A search was started based on witness statements and the patient was located and transported to the hospital. No information on the victim's condition has been released.
