Fri, 12 Mar 2021 17:08:17 CST
A tragic end to this week's hit and run accident on Route 16 near Irving.   Illinois State Police investigators confirm the 24-year-old woman struck Wednesday night one-tenth of a mile west of Grandpoint Avenue and west of Irvin has died and a suspect is in police custody, accused of driving intoxicated when the incident occured. Bethany Dixon was struck around 9:10 pm Wednesday by a vehicle driven by 28-year-old Miranda Davidson of Irvin. State Police investigators say Davdison was westbound on 16 and struck Dixon.   They say Davidson continued onward and fled the scene. She later returned to the scene and reported the crash.   Dixon was transported to a local hospital where she was later pronounced deceased. The roadway was closed for approximately 4 hours for the investigation. On Friday, the office of Montgomery County State’s Attorney Andrew Affrunti charged Davidson with Aggravated Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol Resulting in Death (Class 2 Felony) and her bond was set by the court at $100,000, 10% to apply.
