Hillsboro/Litchfield Schools COVID Update

Fri, 12 Mar 2021 17:29:51 CST
Hillsboro Schools continue to adapt to changing state standards and methods for keeping schools open as safely as possible from the pandemic. The district is implementing new procedures from the Illinois State Board of Education and Illinois Department of Public Health when it comes to montioring students for the presence of Covid 19.   Due to state reccomendations, the district will no longer take student temperatures on buses or entryways. All parents are asked to screen their own children for symptoms before sending them to school. If your child has any of the symptoms related to COVID you should keep him/her at home and notify your school. The new guidance also reduces the minimum for social distancing from 6 feet to 3 feet in most situations but Superintendent David Powell says schools will continue to strive for 6 feet whenever possible. Masks are still required and the appropriate wearing of masks will continue at school and at all school events.   Their current quarantine count is 23. The quarantine count has stayed between 17 and 31 for the last several weeks.
Meanwhile, in Litchfield a Pre-K student has tested positive for Covid 19. Contact tracing efforts continue and students and staffers who will need to enter quarantine will be notified by Montgomery County Health officials. The Health Department determined classes will be able to proceed as scheduled on Monday.
