Two Seriously Hurt in I-55 wreck near Litchfield

I-55 was a parking lot Friday morning as a work zone crash shut down traffic just north of Litchfield. A three vehicle wreck on Southbound 55 three miles north of Litchfield brought traffic to a standstill. State Police say the three vehicles involved in the crash were southbound at Milespost 55. Early details indicate the second and third vehicle in the impacted area slowed for construction zone traffic but an oncoming vehicle did not stop in time. The oncoming vehicle struck one of the vehicles and the impact pushed the second vehicle into the third. Two occupants of that second vehicle suffered serious injuries. The other victims of the crash refused meidcal attention. Southbound traffic was shut down for nearly an hour.
