The murder suspect accused of leading police on a wild high speed chase from Southern Sangamon County to the I-55 work zone north of Litchfield has made his first court appearance and the legal hot water in his case is now set to boil. 30-year-old Christopher Bolden of Florissant, Missouri in North St. Louis County, is being held on a million dollars bond after Judge James Roberts noted Wednesday’s incident represented a crime of violence and an attempt to flee, namely attempted murder of a police officer charges. Bolden is being sought in St. Louis County on first degree murder charges. States Attorney Andrew Affrunti stated that Bolden spotted a trooper setting stop sticks, he made eye contact with the trooper and accelerated in the direction of the trooper, one of two state troopers injured Wednesday but the trooper was able to leap behind a protective concrete in the construction zone. Bolden is charged with first degree murder, unlawful possession and use of a weapon as well as the Missouri crime of armed criminal action in the shooting death of 24-year-old Antonio Green. Green was a passenger in the vehicle of the mother of Bolden’s children. She told police Bolden opened the rear passenger door of the car she was driving and fired three shots at Green near I-270 and Missouri Highway 367. She also said Bolden pointed a gun and demanded she say please. After she did, she was able to run into a nearby residence.   Police tracked down Bolden in Central Illinois driving the same Enterprise rental he was driving in the night of the murder. He was arrested, but then escaped custody leading to the nearly 30 mile long chase along Southbound 55. Bolden has prior convictions for forgery and first degree robbery.
