Massive Power Outage Impacts Most of Montgomery County

Montgomery County has been hit hard by a power outage impacting nearly 6200 customers. An insulator unit malfunctioned, triggering the the outage at 8:30 this morning. Hillsboro, Raymond, Morrisonville, Irving, Taylor Springs are among the towns impacted. So far, Ameren does not have an estimated restoration time but crews are going to work to fix the problem. An insulator unit attaches electric power distribution or transmission lines to utility poles and transmission towers. They support the weight of the suspended wires without allowing the current to flow through the tower to ground. Stay tuned for updates.
