There were 3.9 days suitable for field work during the week ending May 30, 2021. Statewide, the average temperature was 64.9 degrees, 0.9 degrees below normal. Precipitation averaged 1.07 inches, 0.03 inches above normal. Topsoil moisture supply was rated 1 percent very short, 8 percent short, 69 percent adequate, and 22 percent surplus. Subsoil moisture supply was rated 3 percent very short, 13 percent short, 71 percent adequate, and 13 percent surplus. Corn planted reached 95 percent, compared to the 5-year average of 84 percent. Corn emerged reached 86 percent, compared to the 5-year average of 72 percent. Corn condition was rated 1 percent very poor, 3 percent poor, 16 percent fair, 67 percent good, and 13 percent excellent. Soybeans planted reached 89 percent, compared to the 5-year average of 65 percent. Soybeans emerged reached 74 percent, compared to the 5-year average of 46 percent. Soybean condition was rated 1 percent very poor, 3 percent poor, 19 percent fair, 67 percent good, and 10 percent excellent. Winter wheat headed was 95 percent, compared to the 5-year average of 91 percent. Winter wheat condition was rated 2 percent very poor, 2 percent poor, 9 percent fair, 60 percent good, and 27 percent excellent.
