Hillsboro Pharmacy to Close
Fri, 25 Jun 2021 09:32:15 CDT
There are big problems down on the “Pharm” in Illinois. A Hillsboro icon in the independent pharmacy business is calling it a day. After 35 years, the folks at John’s Pharmacy have decided to end their run of service to Hillsboro families and customers from surrounding towns. The pharmacy will close July 7th and transfer prescriptions to CVS Pharmacy in Hillsboro. Some of the familiar faces from John’s could wind up there as CVS plans to interview John’s staffers with the expected bigger workload. Although Pharmacy officials didn’t cite the difficult climate for independent pharmacies these days, the trends in the industry in Illinois certainly didn’t make doing business any easier. Brian Sullivan with Sullivan’s Pharmacy says pharmacy benefit managers continue to employ tactics that are harmful to independent pharmacies and some long time local institutions have paid the price, meanwhile a unique level of service that goes beyond just filling orders is lost.
