Four People Airlifted from Serious Crash in Coffeen

A serious crash on Illinois 185 in Coffeen shuts down the highway for hours and leads to four people being airlifted from the scene with serious injuries.

What:                  Two Vehicle Crash with Injuries.
When:                 July 3, 2021 at 10:34 p.m.
Where:               Illinois Route 185 at Western Street, Coffeen, Montgomery County
Vehicles:             Unit 1 - White 2016 Dodge Durango
                           Unit 2 – Blue 2013 Dodge Ram
Drivers:               Unit 1 – Kenneth L. Rickman, a 46-year-old male from Hillsboro, IL – Airlifted to a regional hospital with serious injuries.
Unit 2 – Evan D. Malloy, a 28-year-old-male from Coffeen, IL – Airlifted to a regional hospital with serious injuries.
Passengers:       Unit 1 – Audrey A. Caldwell, a 68-year-old female from Hillsboro, IL - Airlifted to a regional hospital with serious injuries.
Unit 2 – Sarah Jean Kim, a 25-year-old female from Litchfield - Airlifted to a regional hospital with serious injuries.

Preliminary:       Preliminary investigative details indicate the following occurred: Unit 1 was traveling northwest on Illinois Route 185 near Western Street in Coffeen. Unit 2 was also traveling northwest on Illinois Route 185, in front of Unit 1. Unit 1 rear ended Unit 2. Both units overturned. All parties involved were airlifted to a regional hospital with serious injuries. The ISP Traffic Crash Reconstruction Unit (TCRU) is continuing the investigation. Illinois Route 185 was shut down for approximately seven hours for the investigation and clean up. No further information will be disseminated at this time.
