USDA Awards Rural Development Grant to City of Witt

Washington, DC -- U.S. Rep. Rodney Davis announced Thursday, July 22nd, that the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development has awarded a $22,500 Water and Waste Disposal Predevelopment Planning Grant to the City of Witt. The award is part of USDA Rural Development's efforts aimed at boosting rural communities water infrastructure.

This Rural Development investment will be used to obtain a preliminary engineering report and environmental report to determine required sewer system renovation. The preliminary engineering report will provide costs and possible alternatives to replace the sewer system. The environmental report will provide environmental impacts and clearances associated with those alternatives.

"I'm proud to announce this funding to the City of Witt and its residents which will benefit from this wastewater infrastructure investment,” said Davis. “This grant is a great example of the investments we need to make at the federal level to support our rural communities and their residents. This project is the first step in ensuring wastewater is dealt with in a safe manner within the area."
