Fatal Crash on I-55 Southbound Friday

More details are out on Friday’s fatal crash on I-55 in Macoupin County, South of Litchfield and just North of the Mt. Olive exit. A 28-year-old Warrenton, Missouri woman was killed, two toddlers and a seven-year-old girl were injured as well as the 51-year-old driver from Warrenton. That driver, John McCutcheon was approaching milepost 46 when a rear tire fell off, sending the vehicle into the median where it overturned. 28-year-old Katelyn Cook-McCuthceon was ejected from the vehicle and died after being transported to the hospital. A three- year old male passenger suffered serious injuries, a two-year-old boy and the seven-year-old girl along with the driver John McCutcheon suffered non life threatening injuries. He was cited for Operating a vehicle in Unsafe Condition and Operating an Uninsured Motor Vehicle. The crash shut down the interstate for nearly four hours.
