One Killed, Four Injured in Accident North of Edwardsville

One person was killed and four others were injured in a single-vehicle accident on Route 159 north of Edwardsville on Sunday, June 23. Deon Miller Jr. of Alton was pronounced dead by the Madison County Coroner from injuries he suffered during the accident. He was 20 years old.  Read more...

Schuster Hired as Lincolnwood Principal

The board unanimously approved Ken Schuster as principal, pending the finalization of an administrative contract. Hillsboro Police Investigating Burglaries

Hillsboro Police are warning residents to lock their vehicles and garages after a string of burglaries has been reported. According to Officer Tim Hopper, a vehicle was stolen from a garage during one of the burglaries last week, but it has since been recovered. Gas Tax Hike, Vehicle Registration Fee Increase Approved

Beginning July 1, motorists who pay for gas in Illinois will pay twice as much at the pump in taxes as they do currently. Senate Bill 1939 increases the gas tax from 19 cents per gallon to 38 cents. It passed the House of Representatives on June 1, by a vote of 83-29.  Read more...
